Humanitarian interaction between Kazakhstan and EU discussed in Brussels
BRUSSELS. June 18. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev met with European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva. Issues of humanitarian interaction between Kazakhstan and European Union were discussed at the meeting.
The European Commissioner highly appraised the contribution of President N.Nazarbayev to settlement of the situation in Kyrgyzstan. K.Georgieva complimented timeliness of joint actions of OSCE Chairman-in-office, Kazakh Secretary of State - Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton under which a joint action plan including humanitarian aid was developed.
The EU Commissioner emphasized the role of Kazakhstan in Central Asian region, complimenting active participation of the country in settlement of international problems including regional ones.
Y.Utembayev emphasized the necessity of close cooperation with partners in establishment of a platform for effective dealing with natural disasters and prevention of negative impacts of technical mistakes. Establishment of a rapid reaction center in Kazakhstan could be a step forward in this direction.
At the end of the meeting the European Commissioner accepted invitation to pay a visit to Kazakhstan for establishment of close contacts.
