Houthi agrees to resume talks if bombing halts
BEIJING. KAZINFORM - Government officials in Yemen say Shiite Houthi rebels have agreed with the visiting UN envoy to resume UN-brokered talks as long as the Saudi-led air campaign is halted.
On Thursday, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN special envoy for Yemen, discussed with the leaders from the General People's Congress party (GPC)and Houthis the possibility of prolonging the five-day humanitarian truce, and ways to resume the dialogue between the Yemeni parties, as well as means to facilitate humanitarian relief operations.
Meanwhile,the Saudi-led coalition against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen warned on Thursday that its restraint "would not last long" in the face of continued breaches of a truce.
Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Iranian-backed Shiite rebels on Thursday traded charges of violating a humanitarian ceasefire, as a helicopter gunship belonging to the Saudi-led coalition struck a truck in northern Yemen, killing nine people, Kazinform refers to Xinhuanet.com.
