Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan opens in Hamburg

HAMBURG. January 24. KAZINFORM - Hanseatic City of Hamburg has held the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by members of the Bundestag and the Bundesrat, prominent political figures of Germany, representatives of business circles of the region, migrant organizations as well as German and foreign journalists.

During the ceremony the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany Nurlan Onzhanov presented new Honorary Consul Johann Killinger a consular patent and wished him success in enhancing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany. The Kazakh diplomat noted that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hamburg is an important event in the history of bilateral relations and called on the German side to more actively and effectively implement the existing potential, particularly in the economic sphere.

Nurlan Onzhanov briefed the German participants with the basic provisions of the President's Address to the Nation «Kazakhstan's way-2050: common goal, common interests, common future» and drew attention to the wide-ranging prospects of cooperation with Hamburg in the field of international transportation and logistics services as well as joint scientific research.

Senator (Minister) for Economic Affairs of Hamburg Frank Horch, on behalf of the State Government conveyed best wishes on the occasion of the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan and stressed the practical importance of the representational office in the region which will serve as a bridge between business, academic, scientific and intellectual circles.

Bundestag Deputy Jürgen Klimke, noting the successful development of trade and economic relations with Kazakhstan at the federal level, has invited the business community of Hamburg to more actively join the bilateral projects within resource-based and technology partnership as well as the process of industrialization and the construction of knowledge-based economy of Kazakhstan.

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and the eighth in the European Union it is also one of the largest ports in the world. The city is one of the leading centers in the field of medical and biotechnology as well as one of the world's centers of aircraft construction and renewable energy technologies. Currently there are more than 90 representational offices of foreign states in Hamburg.
