Helicopter crashes on Dubai's palm island

According to the report, one of the two passengers is in critical condition, while the other has sustained moderate injuries. A police helicopter rushed to the scene and flew the two people to nearby hospitals, Xinhua reports.

Ambulance vehicles, fire brigades and police cars were also dispatched to the scene.

The incident caused massive traffic jams on the palm island which is famous as it can be seen from space. The palm island harbors hundreds of luxury apartments, villa districts and several five-star hotels.

It is not clear yet what has caused the crash, the report said, as the weather in Dubai on Wednesday afternoon was sunny. And there were no sandstorms or rainy weather that could have had an impact on the helicopter.
