Heavy rains kill at least 15 in Yemen

SANAA. July 15. KAZINFORM Torrential rains and ensuing flash floods in Yemen have killed at least 15 people in three provinces, state media reported on Wednesday; Kazinform refers to China Daily.

Seven people, including two women and three children, were killed by heavy downpours and flooding in Ibb province, some 150 km south of the capital, said the report, quoting defense ministry sources.

A number of people were still missing in the floods in the province as search operations launched by police rescue teams were underway.

In neighboring Dhamar province, five people, including a child, were killed and another four injured after a rockslide destroyed a dam in Bany Hattab area, according to the report.

In Wisab Assafil area and Maghrabat Khaish village of Dhamar, flash floods washed away a car, killing a woman aboard and injuring several others.

Meanwhile, in the capital Sanaa, one person was killed by floods, while an Ethiopian national was killed by electrical short circuit caused by massive flooding, which has also affected at least 10 weak houses; Kazinform cites China Daily.
