Heavy rain, dust storms and scorching heat forecast in Kazakhstan Aug 22

Atmospheric frontal systems will maintain unstable weather conditions across much of the country, bringing rain and thunderstorms, Qazinform News Agency reports.

Hail and squalling winds are possible, while heavy rain is forecast in the northwest and mountainous areas of the southeast, Kazhydromet says.

Dry weather will prevail in the west, southwest, southeast, and central regions. Strong winds are expected nationwide, accompanied by dust storms in the south.

Scorching heat up to+35+36° will grip western and southern parts of the West Kazakhstan region, south of Aktobe region. Daytime temperatures will soar to +35+38°C in Atyrau region and to +38°C in Mangystau region.

Fire danger is reported to be high in Kostanay region, south of Akmola region, northwest of West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan regions, centre of Aktobe region, east of Zhambyl, Pavlodar, Almaty regions, as well as west and northwest of Abai region.

Met service also warns of extremely high fire danger in Atyrau, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Turkistan, West Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Almaty, Zhetysu, Abai regions, in the south, southeast, and centre of Kostanay region, in the west, north of Mangystau region, in the west, south, east, and center of Karaganda region, in the west of Akmola region, as well as in the south of East Kazakhstan and Abai regions.
