Head of State, CEPEJ President meet in Astana

On the sidelines of the IX Congress of Judges of Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met Francesco Depasquale, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), to discuss the key aspects of the judicial system reform, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.

The Head of State noted the importance of the CEPEJ in raising the standards of judgment at the international arena. He said that Kazakhstan attached special importance to the implementation of the best practices of legal enforcement mechanisms into the national judicial system.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Kazakhstan firmly embarked on a course of building a law-bound and democratic state. In this context, the reform of the judicial system and ensuring the rule of law are of exceptional importance.

In turn, Francesco Depasquale positively assessed the legal reforms launched in Kazakhstan and expressed his readiness for cooperation in human rights ensuring and increasing effectiveness of the judicial system.

Earlier, the Head of State participated in the IX Congress of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
