Grigory Marchenko played important role in dealing with crisis impact in Kazakhstan - EBRD Chief Economist
ASTANA. May 20. KAZINFORM "I consider Grigory Marchenko a very competent person in his current position. He played a very important role in dealing with the impact of the financial crisis in Kazakhstan", EBRD Chief Economist Eric Berglof said at a press conference at the capital's Independence Palace today.
The press conference took place within the EBRD Annual Meeting and Business Forum on Supporting Markets - Asia Meets Europe. One of the questions was about E. Berglof's opinion on nominating the candidacy of Kazakhstan's chief banker G. Marchenko for the post of the IMF Chief.
"Grigory Marchenko has also good experience from private sector, he helps and supports it in his current position", he noted.
"It is very important to us how close we work with the IMF in crisis. We think that the IMF is a strong institution for confident people", Mr. Berglof added.
