Green economy a chance for everybody's decent life - OSCE Head in Kazakhstan Zarudnaya

ASTANA. July 10. KAZINFORM - Kyzylorda held a roundtable discussion on raising awareness of best practices for integrated water resources management in the Aral Sea of Kazakhstan, the press service of the Kazakh National Agrarian University reports.

The event takes place in the context of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for transition to a green economy. Speaking at a roundtable Head of the OSCE in Kazakhstan Natalya Zarudnaya in particular spoke about the next steps in this area. Among them, the experts identified the continuation of studying problems attracting the best practices and technologies, strengthening of cooperation between all stakeholders at the national and regional levels.

"All this is beyond the scope of sustainable development, involving introduction of the principles of the green economy," said Natalia Zarudnaya.

"Green economy is not only and not just large business projects or raising tariffs on energy and water. First of all, it is a chance for a decent life for all people, " added the head of the OSCE Centre in Kazakhstan.

According to the representative of Kyzylorda akimat Erekebulan Bekzhanov, the implementation of Phase 1 of the project, which was named "Project of the Century", made it possible to revive the fishing industry. So, for 10 years, fishing has increased from 400 to 6,200 tons, also implemented are social and environmental projects in the Aral Sea region.

Tomorrow, according to organizers, there will be eco-media assault to the Aral Sea area.
