«Green Bridge» Partnership Program presented in UN ESCAP

ASTANA. November 1. KAZINFORM — The UN ESCAP has held a presentation of the partnership program "Green Bridge" themed "Partnership for Sustainable Development" organized by the coalition for "green" economy and enhancement of the G-Global with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reports.

The purpose of the event was to inform delegates about the activities of inter-regional partnership program "Green Bridge" (PPGB) directed to follow up the outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio +20" and about the results of the conference "Green Bridge" which was held on September 30, 2013 in Astana.

The ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Thailand - Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the UN ESCAP Marat Yessenbayev told participants that the Kazakh initiative PPGB was supported by ESCAP and ECE, the two UN regional commissions, as well as at the global level during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio +20) as it is reflected in outcome document of the meeting "The future we want".

Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, the Vice Minister of Environmental Protection, spoke at the meeting on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He informed the audience about the results of an international conference on "Green Bridge" partnership program which marked the successful launch of the project.

The event's participants praised the leading role of Kazakhstan in Central Asia on the transition to a "green" economy, the promotion of water safety issues and integrated management for water resources.
