Green Bridge Initiative gains support of European countries - UN Under-Sec-Gen
TANA. September 23. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakh initiative "Green Bridge" gains support of the European countries. Jan Kubis, United Nations Under - Secretary-General said it at the VII Pan-European Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe" in Astana on Friday.
According to him, some states consider that it would be nice if the principles of the initiative work since the beginning of bilateral, trilateral relations and specific pilot projects. Some international organizations are ready to support pilot projects that fall under the Astana initiative.
"This initiative will certainly be discussed at RIO+20 Summit. I think that one or two examples of cooperation can be outlined there," Jan Kubis noted.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will unveil the Astana Green Bridge Initiative at the World Summit on Sustainable Development that is scheduled for June 4-6 of 2012 in Brazil.
