> ASTANA. January 27. KAZINFORM /Rasul Bakhamov/ As earlier reported, a presentation of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan in Astana today.
"The UNDAF is peculiar for consistent reduction of the direct resources of the UN agencies and co-financing the projects by the Government which is explained by economic growth of Kazakhstan and changing the schemes of distribution of resources", Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Umarov has said at the presentation.
"Since adoption of the Millennium Declaration in 2000 Kazakhstan has reached significant success in some millennium goals, in particular, in reduction of poverty and starvation, development of universal primary education and gender equality. Alongside there are still some serious challenges in maternity and childhood protection, fight with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis and in environmental protection", K. Umarov said
"I am confident that within the new UNDAF we will be able to use the opportunities of the UN more effectively in order to promote the changes in Kazakhstan in 2015 jointly", K. Umarov noted.
As is known, the total volume of the expected resources for the UNDAF goals support makes USD 79.39 mln from 2010 to 2015. 30% out of them (USD 23.90 mln) will be spent for economic and social welfare of the population; 41% (USD 32.23 mln) - for ensuring stability of environment and 29% (USD 23.26 mln) will be used for efficient state administration.
