Government to consider development of methane reserves in Karaganda rgn

"In order to implement the Kazakh President's instruction, and understanding the importance of an early start to commercial development of coal-bed methane, a definite work has been done in the region," region's deputy Governor Anuar Akhmetzhanov noted.

According to him, Akimat of Karaganda region offers at the national budget's coast to do evaluation works for determining the geological potential of Karaganda coal-mining field. It will allow determining the perspectives of the commercial development of coal-bed methane and to decrease risks and create the conditions to increase investments.

Besides, the region's authorities believe the tax preferences and reliefs are needed for exploration and production of coal-bed methane enterprisers.

Also the regional Akimat requests assistance of state in terms of accelerated development of infrastructure for the delivery and distribution of gas.

According to Deputy Prime Minister, a meeting on the development of methane reserves is planned in the Government.  

As reported earlier, the Government working group headed by the Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister K. Kusherbayev visited Karaganda region on 18-19 October. The working group got familiarized with Zhezkazgan, Karaganda, Temirtau and Saran facilities. Results of the trip were announced at a meeting with activists of the region, where they identified the main priorities of the region and discussed problematic issues.
