Government of Kazakhstan adopts a draft state program for water management

ASTANA. December 24. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan Government has today adopted a draft state program of water management. Document has been presented by the Minister of Environment and Water Resources Mr. Kapparov.

The Minister informed that in 2040 due to the expected reduction in annual transboundary tributaries and consumption growth in total agricultural water shortage in the country could reach 12.2 billion cubic meters per year.

At the same time, the minister said, the water deficit problem could be solved if to purposefully and consistently implement the proposed set of activities in three main groups - agriculture, industry and utilities.

The program offers a number of measures to reduce the expected deficit by modernizing infrastructure, measures to improve water conservation and water use efficiency.

The total program budget in the amount of 8.2 trillion tenge had conceptually been approved by the Republican Budget Commission .
