?Having analysed how our relations were built since 1992, I came to the conclusion that such relations can be rightfully called exemplary, and this is important not only for our countries but for the whole world,? Medvedev said on Wednesday, speaking at the Bolshoi Theatre between a gala concert marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and China. Unique good-neighbourly relations between Russia and China makes an important contribution to the construction of a new world order, the strengthening of a multipolar world and respect for one?s choice of the way of national development, as well as to compliance with international law. The president noted that relations between the two countries are on the rise and based on independence and equality in all fields. ?This approach is absolutely organic for today?s Russia and for China,? he added. ?Russia is ready for deeper relations with China in all fields. There is everything for that: the political will, confidential relations between the leaders, the sound legal basis, mutual attraction of the peoples, mutual attraction of cultures and economies, consonant approaches to international problems. This is the spirit of good-neighbourliness that is organically combined with pragmatism and the willingness to take each other?s interests into account,? Medvedev said. Chinese President Hu Jintao, who also attended the opening ceremony, supported the Russian leader?s assessment of the essence and future of Russian-Chinese relations. ?I fully share your opinion,? he said. Over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Russia and China have ?travelled a thorny path?, he said. Hu believes that a qualitatively new relationship between the two countries began to evolve in April 1996 when the decision was adopted to establish a partnership and strategic cooperation. Since them this relationship has become ?more mature, stable and sound?; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com for full version.
