Golovkin to fight next February in Europe, says Loeffler
CARSON. KAZINFORM WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) will be back in action in the next four months in February in a fight that will be staged in Europe, says Golovkins' promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.
Golovkin will be fighting only three times in 2014 instead of four times. But the plan is for Golokvin to fight four times in 2015. Golovkin could possibly fight in the United States if Julio Cesar Chavez Jr agrees to fight him. However, the odds of that happening are slim and none, because Chavez Jr hasn't been talking about wanting to fight Golovkin lately. After Golovkin's 2nd round knockout win over Marco Antonio Rubio (59-7-1, 51 KOs) in Carson, California, it's doubtful Chavez Jr will start showing interest in fighting Golovkin. Chavez Jr had to struggle to defeat Rubio by a 12 round unanimous decision two years ago in 2012, Boxing News 24 reports. Details also at
