Gold and silver Altar installed in N Kazakhstan catholic parish
PETROPAVLOVSK. KAZINFORM - Catholic parish "Queen of Peace" located in the village of Ozernoye in North Kazakhstan region has installed an unusual altar.
Gold and silver altar is a gift from the Polish Catholics. The delegation, visited the region, was headed by a representative of Pope Francis Cardinal Robert Sarah. According to legends, in March 1941 (WWII), a miracle happened near the village. A stocked lake occurred near the area. Thus, it saved the locals from hunger. There are only 12 altars in the world. The first was installed in Jerusalem, the second - in our region. Before arriving in Kazakhstan the 600 kilogram altar toured the holy places in Poland. Relic is of seven and a half meters wide and two and a half meters in height. "Designing the altar Mariusz Drapikovski used Kazakhstani ornaments. It's a sign of respect for the country and the people who live here", said Mariusz Drapikovski. For the creation of the altar various metals were used including gold, silver and titanium. "Star of Kazakhstan" is encrusted with precious stones.
