Germany offers Kazakhstan partnership to form logistics base in its ports

ASTANA. KAZINFORM Day of Kazakhstan's Economy themed "Prospects and outlooks for cooperation of Kazakhstan and Germany in transport and logistics" was held in Hamburg, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.

The event, organized by the Kazakh Embassy in Germany, Honorary Consulate in Hamburg and Germany's Central & Eastern Europe Business Association, brought together above 150 leading representatives of official, economic, business and expert circles of Germany. Addressing those gathered Kazakh Ambassador to Germany Bolat Nussupov briefed on advantages of the existing trans-Kazakhstan's routes. He called on German partners to jointly realize promising projects in an effort to develop joint logistics base at the German ports. In his turn, Marcus Felsner, President of Germany's Central & Eastern Europe Business Association, said Kazakhstan is an important strategic partner of Germany in Central Asia. 85% of Germany's total commodity turnover with the countries of the region falls on Kazakhstan. As stated there, German business circles hail the measures of the Kazakh Government aimed at expanding the country's transport and logistics and transit potential and express readiness to take an active part in this process. He also noted that Germany is ready to partner Kazakhstan in building Kazakhstan's transport and logistics terminals in their ports in the North and Baltic Seas.
