Ust-Kamenogorsk. December 19. KAZINFORM - German Ambassador to Kazakhstan Dr. Guido Herz is currently on a visit to Ust-Kamenogorsk, where he has met with students of № 12 German gymnasium named after Alexander von Humboldt and presented them with 32 cross-country skis - enough to equip one class.
Earlier this year, another sports gift was given to schoolchildren studying the German language at a Kostanay school - footballs and basketballs.
Sport unites all people, therefore the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany promotes mass sports worldwide, it was announced at the gift-giving ceremony. Sports gifts presented ahead of the 2014 Olympic Games are hoped to motivate Kazakhstani schoolchildren to replicate achievements of top class athletes such as a skier Alexey Poltoranin, for example.
Dr. Guido Herz wished gymnasium pupils to enjoy skiing with the new skis and said he would be rooting for Kazakhstani athletes participating in the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
The German Gymnasium № 12 named after Alexander von Humboldt in Ust-Kamenogorsk has been teaching in-depth knowledge of the German language for many years. Graduates of this school have the opportunity to take an exam for German language diploma «Deutsches Sprach Diplom», which is accepted for admission to higher education institutions in Germany. Moreover, this school is part of a network of partner schools of the Federal Republic of Germany «PASCH» and important partner of the Embassy assisting it in the promotion of the German language in Kazakhstan.
