Gennady Golovkin attends U19 World Boxing Championship opening
Addressing the opening ceremony of the first U19 World Boxing Championship at the Pueblo Convention Center in Colorado, the U.S. spoke on the importance of the event and expressed confidence that it will become not only a platform for discovering new sports talents, but also a symbol of unity and friendship among young boxers from different countries, Kazinform News Agency learned from the NOC.
180 athletes from 30 countries are taking part in the world championship. Kazakhstan is represented by Yerassyl Amangaliyev (55 kg), Assylkhan Kusherbay (65 kg), Dias Serikuly (70 kg), and Daniyal Raimbekov (85 kg).
Earlier, Gennady Golovkin visited the Organizing Committee of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The world's former middleweight champion in professional boxing Gennady Golovkin was elected as the President of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee in February 2024, the post previously held by Timur Kulibayev.
Later in May, Golovkin was appointed a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympism365 Commission
In September, he was appointed the Chair of the World Boxing Federation’s new Olympic Committee.
