"Gender policy" concept appears in Kazakhstan thanks to Business Women's Association - G.Abdykalikova
ASTANA. January 21. KAZINFORM /Zhanna Korkitova/ "Gender policy" concept arose in the country thanks to the Business Women's Association. Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Chairman of the National Commission for Women's Affairs and Family-Demographic Policy under the Kazakh President Gulshara Abdykalikova has said it congratulating the gathered at a national conference dedicated to 15th anniversary of the Business Women's Association.
According to her, in 1995 when the Organization was founded, such concepts as "gender", "gender policy" appeared. At that time nobody knew and understood what it is. Founders of the union have endenizened such new concepts like "women's entrepreneurship" and "a feminist movement". All these concepts were born in this organization.
"During this period the Association has successfully developed. During the past 15 years the Business Women's Association took active part in formation and development of civil society in the country, participated in elaboration of the National Plan for Advancement of Women and Gender Equality Strategy. In recent years the Association is known to develop cooperation with international organizations", G.Abdykalikova noted.
