Gazprom to build pipeline to connect north with south of Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK. KAZINFORM During his working trip to the Talass region President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev said that "Gazprom" OJSC will consider the possibility of building a pipeline from the north to south of Kyrgyzstan in case of need.

Gazprom will pay off USD 40 million debt of KyrgyzgazProm. Additionally, it will attract investments up to USD 600 million and supply gas to the south," said Atambayev. As earlier reported, at the beginning of April, 2014 Russian Gazprom bought 100% of "KyrgyzgazProm" OJSC shares. "The main task of Gazprom is to provide safe and uninterrupted supplies of gas to Kyrgyzstan," said Alexey Miller, the head of the company. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan supply gas to Kyrgyzstan, but Uzbek side cut off its gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan after the change of KyrgyzgazProm ownership.
