Frontex, the EU agency, interested in coop with Kazakhstan
BRUSSELS. January 31. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium and Luxembourg, head of the Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev met in Brussels with Ilkka Laitinen, executive director of Frontex, the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders.
The parties expressed interest in sharing information and practice in analyzing the risks and holding joint operations. Ilkka Laitinen expressed readiness of the Frontex reps in participation of corresponding international conferences and workshops in Kazakhstan on ensuring protection of borders, where the leading European practice could be presented.
Utembayev told about the priorities of the Kazakh foreign policy, including maintenance of security in the Central Asian region. He also briefed on measures taken during Kazakhstan's SCO ad OSCE chairmanship to settle crisis situation in Kyrgyzstan and Afghan problem.
