FRANCE: Flight operator officers on strike, 2000 flights cancelled

PARIS. June 11. KAZINFORM - Today French flight operator officers have been on strike which has already cancelled about two thousand flights at the major airports of the country.

Cancellations mainly affect regional and intra departures. Up to half of flights were cancelled in the capital's airports' called «Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle» and «Orly». The flight operator officers’ protest also affected airports of Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse and the airport of Beauvais located near Paris and being used by numerous European low cost airlines.

Paris airports’ management urges all the passengers contact their airline in advance and specify the flight status.

The strike which was organized by the main trade unions was held a protest against the liberalization of the sector in accordance with the directives of the European Union. As specified in Brussels’ plan Europe should establish a so called "common sky" which will imply the abolition of the current division of airspace on the national principle and the introduction of a unified management within the EU. The strike will last for three days and end on Thursday night.
