Four types of influenza circulate in N Kazakhstan
The North Kazakhstan region has seen a surge in acute respiratory viral infections, with more than 57,000 cases reported since the onset of the epidemic, Kazinform News Agency reports.
As stated by Arman Kushbasov, the deputy head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the North Kazakhstan region, the current figure stands at 30% lower than the figures recorded during the same period in the previous year. Оf the total number of cases, approximately 38,000 (66%) were found in children under the age of 14.
The region has reported 3,000 cases of acute respiratory viral infections over the past week.
“The number of people with influenza in the region has reached 85. Of these, 79 people were infected with influenza type A. Of those infected with influenza 31 were children under 14 years of age, 4 cases were registered among pregnant women. None of them had been vaccinated against influenza,” Arman Kushbasov said.
According to him, the symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza are similar, including high fever, general intoxication, weakness, sore throat, and nasal congestion.
“If you experience the first symptoms of ARVI or influenza, it is essential to seek medical attention immediately. Do not self-medicate. To prevent the spread of the disease, it is essential to keep your child home from school or kindergarten when they are sick. Prolonged illness often leads to complications. Pneumonia is the most common and dangerous of them,” he added.
As reported earlier, 168 flu cases were detected since last November in the city of Almaty.
