Four people hurt in Karelian helicopter accident

ST. PETERSBURG. April 7. KAZINFORM Four people were hurt in a helicopter accident in Karelia on Friday. They were taken for treatment to St. Petersburg, the Russian Emergencies Ministry branch for St. Petersburg reports.

According to the Russian Investigation Committee, the accident, involving a French-made AC-190 helicopter, occurred at 16:46 Moscow time on Friday. The helicopter, board number 01989, belongs to the Baltic Airlines Company. It took off from St. Petersburg and was bound for a place called Chyornye Kamni (Black Stones). It had a heavy touchdown near Lake Yanisyarvi 50 kilometers away from Sortavala district center in western Karelia, Itar-Tass reports.

As a result, two passengers and two pilots received injuries of various degrees. Rescue helicopters evacuated them to St. Petersburg.
