Four people diagnosed with "rabies" - Karaganda oblast

ASTANA. September 5. KAZINFORM Four people, including a 14-year-old teenager, were taken to an infectious disease ward of Satpayev Central Hospital (Karaganda oblast) with a provisional diagnosis "rabies", the press service of the Emergencies Ministry informs.
One of the patients died, the others' condition is satisfactory, doctors say. Final exclusion will be made after laboratory analysis.
Rabies virus causes brain fever both in animals and people. It is transmitted with saliva by a bite of an infected animal.
According to the Alliance for Rabies Control organization around 55 thousand people die from this disease in the world (mostly in Asia and Africa) despite vaccines.
