Former governor of Atyrau region suspected of connivance to terrorism

ATYRAU. December 6. KAZINFORM - Another criminal case was initiated against former governor of Atyrau region Bergei Ryskaliev, who is internationally wanted. He is suspected of connivance to terrorism.

According to investigators, the former head of the region illegally allocated a land plot for the construction of mosques by followers of unconventional Islamic movements. Most of those arrested in the region on suspicion of terrorist activities had been visiting this mosque. It is now proved that the mosque was used for dissemination of terrorist ideas and collection of funds to finance terrorist activities.

The criminal case against 22 members of the organized criminal group led by the former governor of Atyrau region, Bergei Ryskaliev with an indictment was sent to the prosecution authorities for further trial.

Bergei Ryskaliev, his brother Amanzhan Ryskali and 9 more accomplices are internationally wanted. The criminal case against the abovementioned persons is singled out in a separate proceeding.
