Formation of CIS observation team for Russian election complete

MINSK.  February 28. KAZINFORM  The formation of the CIS observation mission to monitor the presidential election in Russia has almost been completed, BelTA learnt from the central office of the CIS observation mission.

According to BelTA, the mission includes 266 accredited observers representing Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly, the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, and the CIS Executive Committee.

CIS long-term observers keep monitoring the work of territorial and precinct election commissions. They attend sessions of the Central Election Committee, visited Moscow polling stations equipped with video surveillance devices.

At a meeting with top officials of the Prosecutor-General's Office of Russia, the mission was informed about the legal aspects of the election campaign and the work of the office to prevent and investigate violations of the electoral law.
