Foreign direct investment inflow from Italy to Kazakhstan's economy made USD 5.3 billion since 1994

ASTANA. May 27. KAZINFORM /Murat Zhakeyev/ The foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow from Italy to the economy of Kazakhstan has made USD 5.3 billion since 1994. These figures were announced today during the 6th sitting of the Kazakh-Italian intergovernmental working group for industrial and economic cooperation and exchange in Astana.

'In accordance with the statistics, the volume of the trade between the two countries made USD 11.2 billion in 2010. It is 30 percent more against 2009. The foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow from Italy to the economy of Kazakhstan has made USD 5.3 billion since 1994,' Vice Minister of Economic Development and Trade Timur Suleimenov made it public today.

According to him, Italy is one of the European biggest investors to Kazakhstan's economy. As of January 1, 2010, there are 142 joint enterprises registered in Kazakhstan. They are mostly involved in the processing industry, oil and gas sector, trade and construction.
