Foreign diplomats donate blood to save lives in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. June 14. KAZINFORM Every year, on 14 June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day and Kazakhstan is no exception.
"Diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan is very supportive of free blood donation," Head of the World Health Organization Country Office Dr. Melita Vujnovic has told Kazinform correspondent at the Republican Scientific Center of Transfusiology today.
"Free blood donation should be developed in Kazakhstan. Blood bank reserves can be replenished only if blood is donated free of charge. It is worth noting that many heads and staff members of the diplomatic missions sited in Kazakhstan donate blood for free," she said. Ambassadors of Serbia, France, Sweden and South Africa were named among those who donate blood in Kazakhstan.
"The World Health Organization has been a good partner of the Blood Center of Kazakhstan and its health care system in general for many years. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all donors and medical workers on the World Blood Donor Day," Dr. Vujnovic added.
