For ten years Shanghai Cooperation Organization withstood all difficulties
ASTANA. June 15. KAZINFORM /Sandugash Duissenova/ For ten years of its functioning the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, in spite of dramatic changes in international and religious situation, withstood all difficulties and proved itself as an important mechanism for deepening good-neighborly, friendly and partnership relations between the member states, the message of the SCO heads of state reads.
"The organization has become an effective multilateral structure that promotes security, socio-economic development and prosperity in the region, an example of dialogue among civilizations and an active factor in global efforts to democratize international relations."
The assessment of the Organization's work and views of the member states on further improvement of the mechanisms for practical cooperation and its forms, as well as the objectives for joint work in the near future have been laid down in the Astana Declaration of the 10th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The heads of state approved the SCO anti-drug strategy for 2011 -2016 years and a programme of action for its implementation, which will enhance joint efforts to counter drug threat in the SCO region.
