For 2014 Sochi Olympic Games no foreign athletes be invited by Kazakhstan, Sport and Physical Education Agency
ASTANA. May 10. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan has no plans to draw foreign players to the national Olympic team to participate in the upcoming Games in Sochi in 2014, said Deputy Chairman of the Agency of Sport and Physical Education Elsiyar Kanagatov in an exclusive interview for Primeminister.kz.
"We have no winter sports legionnaires, not only our home-grown athletes, and they are all contenders for the successful performance", said E.Kanagatov.
He noted that in some kinds of sports Kazakhstan would do well if it attracts foreign athletes.
"I believe that the involvement of foreign players brings a lot of benefit to the development of sports, especially those which have not been cultivated. For example, luge or biathlon. Why not here to bring good athlete," he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, the example of weightlifting shows that the invitation of strong foreign players makes it possible to improve the training of the athletes, to generate interest in the sport and to achieve new results.
Currently, the National Olympic team of Kazakhstan has won 22 licenses in 6 kinds of sports to participate in the Sochi Olympics in 2014.
According to the forecasts of the Agency of Sport and Physical Education, Kazakhstan to the end of the year will win more than 40 licenses in 10 sports.
As you know, XXVII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi (Russia) will be held from 7 to 23 February 2014. In the course of the competition there will be holding 98 sets of medal events in 15 sports. Licensed competition will continue until January 2014.
