Food prices increased by 12.4% in May 2011 - Statistics Agency

ASTANA. June 1. KAZINFORM Food prices in Kazakhstan in May 2011 rose by 12.4% compared to the same period in 2010, Kazinform has learnt from the Statistics Agency.

As the Agency's press release reads, prices for cereals rose by 2.1 times, for butter and fats - by 23.5%, for flour - by 19%, for fruit and vegetables - by 16.4%, for sugar - by 16.3%, for dairy products - by 10.3%, for coffee, tea, cocoa and pasta - by 8.7%, for confectionery - by 7.3% and for bread and alcohol beverages - by 4.6%.

Increase in meat prices (including meat products) made 15% in this period. Prices for mutton rose by 18.5%, for poultry - by 10.87%, horse meat - by 10.2%, sausages - by 9.8% and pork - by 5.5%.
