Flu cases on the rise in N Kazakhstan

Flu cases are rising in North Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

34,842 acute respiratory viral infection cases and one influenza case were recorded in the region between October 1 and December 6, the press service of the sanitary and epidemiological control reports.

3,611 cases were detected last week against 4,390 recorded the previous week. Most cases were registered in children under 14 years that is  2,517 cases or 70%.

Flu vaccination began in the region on November 13.

The АH3N2 influenza variant case was reported in North Kazakhstan.

11% of the local population received flu shots, it said in a statement.

8.794 health workers, 4,479 pupils, 555 pregnant women, and 23,202 people with chronic diseases have been vaccinated against flu so far.
