Flooding situation is under control in regions of Kazakhstan - President Nazarbayev
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev commented on the flood situation in some regions of the country.
"The flooding hammered several regions this year - central, northern and eastern Kazakhstan," the Kazakh President said at a press conference on Thursday. The Head of State noted that nearly 15,000 people were forced to evacuate and seek refuge in shelters. "This situation caused considerable economic damage," Nazarbayev stated. "Almost 6,000 people are working non-stop to help people in the flood-hit areas. Thankfully, there are no casualties," the President noted. Nursultan Nazarbayev also reassured that he constantly keeps in touch with akims (governors) of the regions. "There is no need to worry. The situation is under control," the Head of State added.
