Flame of Asian Games arrives in Karaganda
KARAGANDA. January 28. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ The Flame of the 7th Asian Games arrived in Karaganda yesterday in the evening.
Deputy governor of Karaganda region Arman Kyrykbayev welcomed the Flame in Karaganda. 'It is quite noteworthy that the Asian Games coincided with the 20th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan. We are confident that holding of such an event will promote the image of Kazakhstan in the world and the rest of the countries will be more of the opinion that Kazakhstan is committed to its high goals, to great achievements including sport', he noted.
The relay is now one stage away from the final one, Head of the Directorate of the Torch Relay Nail Nurov said. 'I congratulate all of you on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 7th Asian Games on arrival of the Sacred Flame of the Asian Games to the industrial capital of the country, city of miners and one of the sports cities of the country', he said.
'Karaganda is the last stage of the relay the Flame was delivered to by air. It will travel to Astana by car from Karaganda. It is the only stage of the relay the Flame will travel on the ground. All the rest were carried by air', N. Nurov added.
Karaganda is ready for the Torch Relay, Mayor of the city Baurzhan Abdishev ensured. 'I am confident that people of Karaganda are ready and united for this event. We will proudly carry the Flame of the Asian Games', he added.
