Flame of 7th Asian Winter Games lit in Al Kuwait
ASTANA. January 11. KAZINFORM The Flame Ignition Ceremony of the 7th Asian Winter Games was held in the city of Al Kuwait today.
As the General Information Partner of Aziada - Khabar Agency - informs, the grandiose action took place at the foot of the Kuwait Towers, one of the major sights of the city.
The Ceremony was opened by Sazgen Sazy folklore-ethnographic ensemble and Gulder dancing team. The ignition of the Aziada Flame became a culmination of the event.
President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah was the first to take the Torch. He passed it to Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sport Temirkhan Dosmukhanbetov. After then the Torch was given to young talented skater Abzal Rakhymgaliyev who then ran along the river towards the famous Kuwait Towers to pass it to a Kuwaiti sportsman. The relay was continued by the representatives of China, Japan and Korea.
The Flame of the 7th Asian Winter Games will be brought to Almaty on January 12 where its trip around the cities of Kazakhstan will start. 1, 020 torch bearers will be involved in the relay.
Among them are famous Kazakhstani sportsmen Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, Yevgeny Agureyev and Olga Shishigina. The relay will finish on January 30 at the Opening Ceremony of the Games at Astana-Arena stadium.
