Flags lowered to half-staff in SCO Secretariat building

The flags of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are lying half-staff in the headquarters of the Organization in honor of the victims of the Kostenko coal mine accident in Karaganda region, Kazakhstan, Kazinform Agency reports.

The ceremony of lowering the SCO countries' flags took place in Beijing today morning.
The SCO headquartered in Beijing initially included Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined the Organization in 2017, and Iran became a member of the SCO this year.

As earlier reported, 29 bodies of the 35 mine workers killed in the Kostenko mine explosion had been lifted from the mine.

Earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had expressed his gratitude to the heads of foreign states and compatriots for pouring in condolences and support on the occasion of the fatal tragedy that shocked Karaganda region.
