First snowdrops blossom in Shymkent
The first heralds of spring blossom earlier in southern Kazakhstan than in other parts of the country because of the mild climate, Kazinform News Agency reports.
There’s still a week to go before the official start of spring, but nature is already beginning to stir. Streets, parks, and squares are warming up, with the first flowers beginning to bloom.
Photographer and tour guide Timur Baigulov captured this renewal of nature at the Shymkent Arboretum. His camera lens caught the delicate yet bold snowdrops, the first to greet the coming spring. Their elegant white petals have become a symbol of nature’s awakening.
"Hey everyone, check out this beauty! Snowdrops are already blooming in Shymkent this February. I’m at the dendropark right now filming," says Timur Baigulov in his video.
Snowdrops are one of the rarest spring flowers, and they're listed in Kazakhstan's Red Book. These resilient blooms break through the winter soil, reaching for the first rays of sunshine.
As reported earlier, a red-listed snow leopard and its cubs were spotted in the Altyn Emel National Park in Almaty region.
