First heart operation performed in Astana

ASTANA. October 20. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Surgeons of the recently-opened National Scientific Cardiac Surgery Centre of Astana performed the first heart operation. A 6-year-old girl with interatrial septum birth defect was operated on. She is doing well now.
The centre is opened in view of great demand for hi-tech cardiac surgeries. It has six operation rooms to perform about 3,500 heart operations a year.
