First Forum of CIS Agricultural Producers to be held in Turkmenistan late November

SAINT PETERSBURG.  September 15. KAZINFORM  /Yelena Myagkova/ On September 25-27 Ashgabat will host a Forum of agricultural producers of the CIS countries and an exhibition of agricultural equipment and up-to-date technologies.

As the press service of the CIS Executive Committee informs, the Agricultural Forum was initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov on June 6, 2008 at the informal summit of the CIS Presidents in Saint Petersburg. As the Turkmen Leader noted "the forum will be of great importance for solution of food security problems".

In July 2008 during the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov expressed gratitude to the Russian side for support of his initiative on holding the abovementioned forum in Ashgabat in 2009.

Dmitry Medvedev, in turn, said "It is a pleasure for us to join realization of this idea and we fully support it".

On November 14, 2008 in Chisinau at the session of the Inter-Governmental Council on the CIS agro-industrial complex it was decided to hold a regular session of the Council in Ashgabat in Nov 2009 simultaneously with the First CIS Forum of Agricultural Producers.

Later Minister of Agriculture  of Turkmenistan Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev said an exhibition of agricultural equipment and technologies and a congress of the CIS economists-agrarians would take place within the Forum.
