First Deputy PM holds meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev has held a series of bilateral meetings with the participants of the 8th AEF, the press service of the Kazakh Prime Minister reported.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States Kurt Tong and Bakytzhan Sagintayev discussed removal of trade barriers and consumer protection within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union as well as in the Central Asian region. The sides also exchanged views on the possible implementation of infrastructure projects in the framework of "economic belt of the Silk Road" including with the involvement of foreign companies. Harvard University professor Kenneth S. Rogoff shared his opinion about the changes in the global economy as well as the practical steps to be taken by Kazakhstan to maintain economic growth. Kenneth S. Rogoff and Bakytzhan Sagintayev have discussed functioning of the future international financial center of Astana - AIFC. Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Lenni Montiel at a meeting with Mr.Sagintayev spoke about the reform of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
