"For me it was very important to represent Kazakhstan because it is the last World Cup before the Olympics. I feel some pressure, but, nevertheless, I have been training hard and felt I was ready. When, finally, the moment came, I was there with the program, " said Denis Ten.

"It's great that I stayed in the second place, because this kind of sport is very conservative, it has taken years for our country to win the trust. Therefore, if already in the pre-Olympic year our country has been entrusted the silver medal, it gives us hope that the following year we have a chance for a medal in Sochi, " added the skater.

According to him, during the event the fans were supporting him much. The notable thing was as the skater said that in the stands during the performance there were foreigners supporting him with the Kazakh flag. The honor of Kazakhstan sports believes that he still has something to strive for.

Denis Ten also said that he was always hurt when people abroad know little about Kazakhstan. "When I was a kid, I was constantly asked "Where is Kazakhstan?". It always touches me very deeply. But most of all I was hurt that when I won the tournament, a highly respected person announced that the tournament has been won by the athlete from a country that does not exist. It hurt me like that in that moment, I promised myself that sooner or later Kazakhstan will be recognized globally. When it (the victory, editor) happened, I felt incredibly proud of my country, " said Ten.

It should be reminded that the Kazakhstani Denis Ten won the silver medal at the World Championship in Canada, gaining 266.48 points for a short and arbitrary program, losing to the three-times world champion, Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan, who received a total of 267.78 points. The third result was shown as 249.06 points by the Spanish skater Javier Fernandez.
