Federer-Wawrinka duel named best ATP match of 2014
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has reviewed the best ATP World Tour matches of the year and announced that all-Swiss showdown between Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka in Barclays ATP World Tour Finals semifinal was the best, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.
Although Wawrinka dominated the first set, it was Federer who actually stunned The O2 Arena with a 4:6, 7:5, 7:6 comeback victory in London. Kei Nishikori and David Ferrer produced probably the best clay-court match of the year in Madrid semifinal. The Japanese who had quite a successful year routed Ferrer 7:6, 5:7, 6:3. Nishikori vs. Ferrer rivalry eventually ended up as the second best match of 2014. The Spanish thriller between Rafael Nadal and Pablo Andujar in Rio Open 2014 rounds out the top 3 best ATP World Tour matches of the year.
