Famous American coach to train Kazakh boxers
Kazakhstani men's boxing team is currently engaged in preparations for the forthcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A renowned American coach Christopher Camacho has been invited to the training camp by the President of the NOC, Gennady Golovkin.
Camacho will be assisting the coaching staff of the national team of Kazakhstan in preparing the boxers for the continental championship.
It should be noted that Christopher Camacho has been involved with Gennady Golovkin's training camps for a number of years, prior to various professional boxing matches. He has also worked with a number of high-profile MMA fighters, including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez and Luke Rockhold.
It was previously reported that Gennady Golovkin has been appointed as Chair of a new Olympic Commission by World Boxing.
Golovkin, a former boxing world champion in the middleweight division, was elected in February to the post of President of the Kazakh NOC, which was previously held by Timur Kulibayev.
In May 2024, Gennady Golovkin was appointed as a member of the International Olympic Committee's Olympism 365 Commission.
In an interview with the renowned American boxing commentator Kevin Iole, Golovkin discussed the pressing issues Olympic boxing is currently facing.
In October 2024, he presented his vision of the future of boxing to the IOC President.
