Export of fish, fish products made $84.2mln last year - Kazakh Agriculture Ministry

ASTANA. April 6. KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Export of fish and fish products made 36.5 thousand tons to the amount of USD 84.2 million in 2009. This is by 26% more than in 2007. Chairman of the Fish Industry Committee of Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture Yuri Romashov made it public at the sitting in the Ministry on Tuesday.
According to him, Kazakhstan's fish production increased from 22.3 tons in 2006 to 31.7 tons in 2009. The volume of private investments in this sector made more than KZT 6 billion over 4 years. "Fish processing is one of the most significant constituents of the fish industry and a basis of its export potential", he noted.
