EXPO 2017-Regional Initiatives Forum kicks off in Aktau

"The campaign for the EXPO, which began in the country and will continue until 2017, has been taken up in the regions", said the forum moderator, political analyst Nurlan Yerimbetov.

"It is not accidentally that the forum is being held in Mangystau region, which is on the 3rd place among the regions of Kazakhstan by the main economic indicators. For 3 years the region implemented 23 projects under the program of forced industrial and innovative development of Kazakhstan. Now it's needed to think about increasing oil production of existing fields and opening new ones. Therefore, the forum will sign the Memorandum between Akim of Mangystau region and JSC "KMG" for geological exploration in the region.

It should be noted that we have to solve the existing environmental problems: reduce the amount of emissions into the atmosphere, eliminate the "historic" oil spills on land, resolve the issue with abandoned oil wells that are in the area of ​​flooding. Another environmental problem is "Koshkar-Ata" tailing dump located 108 km from the Caspian Sea and 4 km from the regional center," said the deputy mayor of Mangystau region Birzhan Kanesh.

"It is necessary to develop renewable energy, use the energy of sunlight and wind. We participated in the project on introduction of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan, near Almaty. We have raised the issue to adopt a bill on the use of renewable energy", said Pek Chuhen, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan.
