Experimental-industrial stage of Kashagan project to be implemented in late 2012-early 2013 - Mynbayev

ASTANA. May 4. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Experimental-industrial stage of the Kashagan project will be implemented in late 2012-early 2013. Kazakh Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev said it at a briefing upon the results of the IV Astana Economic Forum on Wednesday.

"Kazakhstan is one of the few countries, whose peak in oil production is still ahead. As for the volume, last year the oil production amounted to 80 million tons," the Minister noted.

According to him, Kazakhstan is planning to produce more than 90 million tons of oil by 2015; 120-130 million tons - by 2020.

The Minister stressed that these figures are not forecasts, but the result of accounting the deposits where oil production has already reached the peak. First of all, this is TengizChevroil, which is planning a growth by 12 million tons. Production increase is also expected in Karachaganak.
