Ex-governor of Pavlodar region suspected of embezzling detained

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Financial Police of Kazakhstan has detained former governor of the Pavlodar region Yerlan Aryn, the press service of the police reports.
Mr. Aryn is suspected of embezzling sponsors' money earmarked for urban development of Pavlodar city and large-scale bribery. The 53-year-old Aryn voluntarily quit his post last year. A renowned researcher, he used to serve as a vice minister of education and science prior to taking the reigns of power in the Pavlodar region.
